David Armour

Founder, Principal

David was drawn to architecture during his childhood in New England, surrounded by beautiful colonial-era homes. Early in his career, a trip to San Francisco deepened his appreciation for our region's rich architectural history, culture and natural beauty. He spent the next decade working for Bay Area notables David Gast (Gast Architects) and Sandy Walker (Walker & Moody), refining his skills and perception on custom projects in San Francisco, Napa and Hawaii and his own solo work. In 2008, he co-founded the firm which would become Armour Architecture. He's deliberately kept an intimate studio, working with clients whose vision matches his and fostering a savvy team of professionals with a common ethos. In 2019, he restored a neglected 1920s space in the dynamic Lower Haight neighborhood into the firm's current light-filled studio.

David learned early to view clients and project teams as his partners - enduring relationships that foster the trust and insight he needs to support their lives in thoughtful ways and reflect their personal styles. He and his team have kept this the cornerstone of the studio. They genuinely love what they do and work to ensure collective vision and shared pride in the homes they create. In his free time, David enjoys the arts, travel, skiing, baseball-watching and attending classic rock concerts alongside his wife and college daughter.
